Board Volunteer Title EN

Seeking Volunteer Board of Director(s) and Committee Members

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Champlain East is a community-based, non-profit registered charity serving the counties of S.D.G & A. and Prescott-Russell.

CMHA Champlain East offers a range of programs and services designed to enhance the rehabilitation, recovery and independence of individuals 16+ living with a severe mental illness or concurrent disorder (mental illness combined with substance use disorder).

The Board of Directors of CMHA Champlain East is responsible for setting the strategic directions, establishing its strategic goals, oversight of the use of its resources in achieving those goals and establishing the organizational policies and practices that govern the organizations actions.

This is a challenging and rewarding volunteer opportunity. The Board meets every fourth Monday of the month at 7:00 pm, except July and August. Committees of the Board meet up to four times per year at 5:30 pm prior to the Board meetings. There are opportunities for board development training and the Branch reimburses expenses incurred to perform Board duties (i.e.: kilometer travel, meals etc.).

While we encourage all to apply, preference will be given to representatives from equity-seeking groups in our communities. Board members will be selected according to their skill, experience and personal qualities. Board members must be at least 18 years of age.

We currently have a particular need for individuals with experience and knowledge in the following area(s):

  • Law and criminal justice
  • Medical/healthcare (family physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, etc.)
  • Governance
  • Innovation, high tech, and digital health
  • Philanthropy

CMHA Champlain East is committed to building a diverse Board that is representative of the communities we serve.

If interested please fill out the application form. Special accommodations are available upon request.
