Promotion in Schools

School based mental health education is the ideal place to reach youth on issues regarding mental health including (anti-bullying). Studies have shown that young people are at high risk for mental health problems. A recent study, conducted by Dr. Ron Kessler and colleagues at Harvard University, points out that half of all lifetime cases of mental illness begin by age 14.

The “Talking About Mental Illness Program” outlines the importance of addressing mental health problems and prevention strategies. The T.A.M.I program integrates mental health promotion, prevention, and the importance of early intervention including community services for youth.
