On November 9th, CMHA Champlain East hosted Cornwall’s first-ever Men’s Mental Health Summit, a transformative event that brought nearly 100 participants together to address the often-overlooked crisis of men’s mental health.

With a lineup of inspiring speakers, impactful discussions, and actionable insights, the event fostered an environment of openness and understanding, breaking down barriers and stigma surrounding men’s mental wellness.

Highlights from the Day:

  • Ryan Forsyth’s Keynote Session:
Ryan explored the importance of redefining masculinity and improving communication, offering strategies such as “listening to understand, not respond.”
  • Five-Generation Panel Discussion:
Panelists Alex Moussa, Ryan Forsyth, Victor Lalonde, Ivan Labelle, and Stephen Douris shared their diverse perspectives on challenges men face today, from isolation to evolving societal expectations.
  • Ivan Labelle on Healthy Relationships:
Ivan’s presentation emphasized trust, acceptance, and the importance of reconnection after conflict in building strong, healthy relationships.

 Community Impact:

This event was made possible by the generous sponsorship of Grant Marion Construction Ltd., whose support allowed us to host such an impactful summit.

Media coverage of the event, including a feature article in The Seeker, captured the heart of the summit. Ian, a participant, described it as:
"The most informative, well-organized, and inspirational event I have attended in Cornwall in my 45 years here."

Another attendee, Kelly Roach, said:
"This inspiring event allowed people to share their mental health stories in a positive, caring environment. I hope there are more presentations like this in the future."
