When we hear the word addiction, most of us think of alcohol or drugs. But addiction can also relate to activities like gambling, gaming, shopping, eating, sex, social media, and even work. And how our brains change to form an addiction is the same. And we can recover from them. Recovery rewires hope.

----------------

Addiction is the result of our brain rewiring itself to earn rewards and pleasure. Our addiction becomes something we need to feel okay, even when it causes harm, even if we want to stop. The good news is that all types of addiction are treatable. Recovery rewires hope.

----------------

Addiction is not a choice. Our brain actually changes, making it hard to stop, no matter how much we want to. And it can affect anyone. We need to people struggling with addiction with empathy, not judgment. Everyone deserves compassion, care, and support on their path to recovery. Recovery rewires hope.
